As a sensitive and shy little girl, I felt the energy of living in Israel with its spiritual nature yet with feelings of discomfort in the air. "If it weren't for the Arabs we would be living in peace!"
Maybe I became curious about these Arab people when I was there as a three- and five-year-old. Who were these people really?
I know that God creates each of us, and God creates only goodness. People are influenced by many things both from their ancestry as well as their environment.
What I discovered in my recent time in the UAE, Sudan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt is that people are basically the same...with loving hearts, sensitivities and insecurities.
It's the insecurities, misunderstandings, lack of knowledge and feelings of helplessness that cause the "problems" of today.
I've come to love the Egyptian people above all. Not all of them act with the highest integrity - it is true that some lie, cheat and steal - but overall they are people with big hearts, generously giving their time and exhibiting the highest degree of hospitality.
Seeing is believing. And experience is the best teacher.
